Energizing the Long Island economy

TURBO-CHARGE THE ECONOMIC ENGINE OF LONG ISLAND

A critical part of our mission is the promotion of economic development, business innovation and entrepreneurship through research and public private partnerships. This is not new — as our long record of business development through the Research and Development Park, Long Island High Technology Incubator, Advanced Energy Center of Excellence, and Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology attest — but we are always looking for new ways to achieve these goals.

Governor Cuomo’s new “Start-Up NY” initiative provides just such an opportunity. Stony Brook is Long Island’s anchor for the program, serving as a tax-free zone for new and existing tech businesses to start-up or relocate in New York.
