Transforming the Student-Athlete Experience

  • Provide immediate quality assistance and counseling for all issues related to mental health and wellness
  • Maximize the physical development of each student-athlete and instill a commitment to positive life choices regarding health and wellness
  • Hire a nutritionist or dietician who will work in concert with the athletic performance coaches and athletic trainers to create dietary plans to help achieve specific goals for student-athletes and provide substantial education about healthy diet and lifestyle.

  • Ensure first class locker room facilities for all student-athletes
  • Enhance Joe Nathan Field and University Field by adding additional permanent seating, a permanent restroom facility, concessions area, press box, entry plaza and new scoreboard
  • Renovate University Pool so that it can best serve the needs of the student-athletes and Stony Brook community
  • Develop a soccer-specific venue for training and competition
  • Expand the Goldstein Family Student-Athlete Development Center to accommodate a greater number of student-athletes and academic support staff
  • Provide appropriate facilities for new women’s program(s) to be added in the future

“It seems like every time I come back there’s something else. It blows me away, and surprises me, and I can’t believe how much this school has grown. It’s fun to be a part of and fun to watch.” —Joe Nathan ’97, Hon. ’13, Major League Baseball all-star pitcher

Develop Culture of Philanthropy and Financial Support

  • Build on the program designed to increase unrestricted gifts to department
  • Create the culture of giving that will increase overall philanthropic support and develop major gift pipeline
  • Maximize our ticket sales and corporate giving while unlocking other revenue streams

“I’m honored and couldn’t be more proud to be a Stony Brook alum and to give back to the school. It has meant so much to me and to my family.” –Glenn Dubin ’78, Hon. ’12

Competing for Championships and National Prominence:

  • Increase annual operating budgets each year so that investment can be made in team travel, recruiting, equipment and other essential needs in order to position each program in the top third of its respective conference
  • Recruit, support and retain quality coaches in all sports in order to provide our student-athletes with the best opportunity to win at a high level
